The Annual General Meeting was held on September 9, 2023. At this meeting, we elected a new board of directors to lead CIIRSA.

We extend our deepest gratitude to the outgoing board members for their dedicated service and valuable contributions to our organization. Your efforts have played a significant role in our success, and we appreciate your commitment.

A warm welcome to our newly elected board members who will carry forward the mission and vision of CIIRSA. We look forward to their leadership and enthusiasm as we continue to make a positive impact in our community.

CIIRSA Women and Children Association’s 1st Annual Gala: A Triumph of Unity and Diversity!

We are overjoyed to share the tremendous success of the 1st Annual Gala hosted by the CIIRSA Women and Children Association. This extraordinary evening brought together individuals from various ethnic backgrounds, weaving a vibrant tapestry of cultures and traditions.

A heartfelt thank you extends to the dedicated organizers, passionate participants, generous sponsors, and enthusiastic attendees who all played a pivotal role in making this event a resounding success. The gala was more than just a gathering; it was a true celebration of diversity, with attendees proudly showcasing their traditional dress and contributing to the rich tapestry of music that defines our unique community.

Behind the scenes, a dynamic social subcommittee group worked tirelessly to plan and coordinate every aspect of the gala. Their collaborative efforts were instrumental in creating an atmosphere of unity and inclusion.

As we reflect on this memorable evening, we’re reminded of the strength that emerges from unity and the beauty that unfolds when we embrace each other’s cultures. This event marks the beginning of a tradition that we fervently hope will continue to foster understanding, appreciation, and a strong sense of community.

Wilson David, representing CIIRSA, and the St. Joseph Iraqi Community organized an event for the Saint Mary Day celebration at Rundle Park in Edmonton on Aug. 18 2024. The gathering and event was a great success. We would like to thank all the volunteers and participants.

CIIRSA Banking Seminar w/ Servus Credit Union - Edmonton 10/5/24

The CIIRSA Banking Seminar with Servus Credit Union was an excellent opportunity for families to enhance their financial literacy and plan for their future. Topics that were discussed: 1. Bank Accounts and Savings Accounts 2. Credit Cards – Applying for a credit card and understanding the terms and conditions 3. Credit History – Why is a good credit history important 4. Personal Loans- Vehicle loans, furniture,etc 5. Buying a house – Pre – Approved mortgages 6. Opening a business 7. Budgeting 8. RRSP – Retirement Saving Accounts 9. RESP – Education Savings Plans for your children secondary education 10. Questions and Answers Many spouses attended together to align on financial goals and decisions. The seminar is tailored to provide practical knowledge and tools to achieve financial stability and success for immigrants, refugees, and newcomers. We are very proud of everyone who could attend. We thank our great Servus Credit Union presenters for a very knowledgeable presentation!

CIIRSA is proud to offer multilingual support, with staff, board members, and instructors collectively fluent in 12 languages in addition to English. All lessons can be translated to accommodate students’ needs, ensuring inclusivity and effective learning.

Our English language program is carefully curated, selecting the best curriculum elements from both the United States and Canada to provide an exceptional learning experience. We are committed to continuous improvement, regularly utilizing library resources to enhance and refine the program’s curriculum.

All CIIRSA instructors are highly qualified professionals, holding university degrees, certified in first aid, and thoroughly vetted through comprehensive background and vulnerable sector checks.

In its inaugural year, the 2023-2024 CIIRSA Arts program in Fort McMurray saw exceptional student achievements under university-level instruction. Through mediums like Shaded Pencil, Brush Stroke, Color Theory on Canvas, and Computer Graphics, students developed technical skills and conceptual depth. Emphasizing personal expression and cultural relevance, the program encouraged experimentation. With critical discussions and feedback, students evolved as thoughtful artists, grasping art’s societal role. This first class showcased dedication and talent, achieving artistic excellence. Their success highlights the transformative impact of arts education, shaping Fort McMurray’s creative future.

First CIIRSA Fort McMurray Family Picnic - August 27, 2022

The first CIIRSA Fort McMurray Branch Family Picnic on August 27, 2022 was a great success! CIIRSA Members and their families enjoyed a day of celebration and fun, amemorial experience for all! The children enjoyed Face Painting and gifts. Many Board Members and Women’s Group Board Members from other Edmonton and Calgary Branches attended and had meaningful discussions with the Fort McMurray Board and Women’s Group members. Many local municipal and government officials were welcomed. We are grateful for the tremendous efforts of the volunteers. Thank you to Loblaws for donating the delicious food! See you next year!
